The public/private partnership began in early 2016 when Little Rock residents voted in favor of a 2% hotel tax (primarily paid for by visitors and tourists to the city) to benefit the Arkansas Arts Center (now the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts), the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, and Historic MacArthur Park. Reimagining the Arkansas Arts Center: Campaign for Our Cultural Future, is a $142 million special fundraising campaign that will realize the stunning new Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. Overwhelming private support has more than tripled the public contribution to the project. Read more about the project’s funding.
